District Sales Manager Empire Territory

The company is going through a sales expansion in preparation of multiple launches. As a result, I am currently looking for a District Sales Manager (titled Regional Sales Directors here) Neurology for the Empire territory. This is a first-line sales manager role.

Territory: parts of NY, most of PA, parts of MD, parts of W. Virginia, and parts of OH


  • 12 years pharma sales and sales management experience
  • Prior experience managing sales representatives
  • Background of strong sales and sales leadership achievements, including team rankings
  • Experience in neurology required (strong preference for neuromuscular: MS, Parkinsons Epilepsy, etc.)
  • Buy and bill experience preferred
  • Orphan product experience is a plus
  • Prefer combination of big pharma and small pharma experience
  • Consistent upward mobility over the progression of your career
  • Scientific acumen, ability to learn the science quickly
  • Launch experience required
  • Must live in territory and be able to travel within territory, including overnight travel
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the US without sponsorship
  • TITLE: District Sales Manager (Regional Sales Director) Neurology - Empire

    REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Sales - Neurology


  • Drive outstanding sales performance with your Regional Account Managers to ensure sales forecasts are met or exceeded. Effectively coach the use of assigned resources to drive therapeutic and territory expectations. Work with RAMs to customize discussions and HCP interactions based on individual needs in a compliant and ethical manner
  • Maintains current understanding of local market, practice structures, business models, and key influencers. Routinely share such information with relevant the company stakeholders (e.g., Sales and Commercial Leaders.)
  • Provides input into resource allocation decisions across Region. Lead RAM Team to identify and select programs/resources available and appropriate for each customer, practice, and/or system
  • Regularly use a variety of analytical tools to understand and evaluate the business in order to best determine how to lead and coach your RAM Team to accomplish sales objectives and apply resources such as HCP educational programs, in an effective and ethical/compliant manner
  • Work with Regional Account Managers to develop a local business plans that ensures achievement of goals and sales objectives. Ensures appropriate planning to drive effective implementation of the strategic plan
  • Responsible for Attracting, Retaining and Developing High Performing Regional Account Managers
  • Conducts regular field visits and business reviews, provides regular written and verbal feedback following customer and field visits that address and support both business development and career development needs of the RAM
  • Creates, builds and maintains relationships and regular communication with physicians and key thought leaders
  • Responsible for leading RAM Team to develop new accounts and expand existing accounts
  • Ensures a high level of Clinical Acumen, Business Acumen and customer service is delivered to all customers
  • Ensures cooperative and collaborative communication and execution between all internal stakeholders
  • Develops, Leads and Facilitates Team POA meetings
  • Responsible for regular input to the Neurology TA regarding the US Brand Strategy for the product
  • Conducts regular business reviews with the VP/Business Unit Lead of the Neurology Business Unit to ensure attainment of corporate sales objectives, alignment of goals, and personal development plans of employee and staff
  • Acts with integrity in compliance with laws, internal policies and Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, is a role model to the team

  • Bachelors degree in life science and/or business/marketing; Advanced or Masters degree ideal
  • Proven track record of Employee Development & Performance Management
  • Minimum of 10 years biopharmaceutical industry experience
  • Extensive experience leading Manager-level staff and above and delivering results, preferred
  • Experience in specialty sales, with Neurologist, Neuro-Immunologist and/ or orphan drug sales and launch experience preferred
  • Demonstrated successful experience with significantly expanding existing sales teams
  • Broad cross-functional experience in other commercial roles, such as Marketing, Sales Operations, Medical, National/Corporate Accounts, Managed Markets, Hospital Markets, etc.
  • Experience with launching a biopharmaceutical preferred
  • Ability to travel within US on a regular basis which may include overnight and/or weekend travel
